A Message from Pastor Paul Offhaus

I am happy to see St. John serving as a host congregation for The Journey.  It’s a natural fit, since ‘Mama Windy’ and her family have been long-time members here.

In addition, The Journey’s desire to provide for the spiritual, physical, relational, emotional and intellectual needs of young adults fits well with our mission statement to live as neighbors to those around us.  Finally, the three movements of Rest, Release, and Respond reflect the natural journey of a disciple of Jesus.  Jesus says, “Come to me, all you that are weary and carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest” (Matthew 11:28).

As we enter into the rest our Savior provides, we are invited to release the burdens of not only sin and guilt, but also shame and sadness, despair and depression that many young adults today encounter in their life’s journey.

Through the very real forgiveness God offers us in Christ Jesus, we can be renewed and set free to respond to the God’s invitation to participate in the Church’s great mission to see God’s kingdom come, God’s will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.  If you are a young adult reading this, know that you will always find a warm and genuine welcome here at St. John!
